Bizerba UK invests in MPS EFA 530 flexo press
Bizerba UK has purchased an MPS 10-colour EFA 530 flexo press with full LED drying technology from GEW for its new production site. The machine will be used predominately to print CleanCut linerless labels for the UK market.
Bizerba UK, founded in 1983 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Germany-based Bizerba SE & Co. The company has around 4.300 employees worldwide and has been in the same family for five generations. Additional production facilities are located in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, China, and the USA.
The company considered all of the industry’s leading manufacturers before deciding the MPS EFA 530, deciding that MPS was the press ‘that ticked all the boxes’. The ability to add expandable features in the future, such as the latest MPSConnect, was another major plus.
‘We were looking for a press with improved performance and technology, which would enable the business to have minimal make ready-times and improve overall productivity,’ commented Morag Ash, head of labels at Bizerba UK. ‘Considering all the options and our existing relationship with MPS since 2001 which has been excellent over the years, choosing the latest EFA 530 LED press was an easy decision.
‘MPS flexo presses have proven outstanding performance plus the added advantage of being servo-driven. They also have an innovative concept on how to control printing and web tension separately, which allows improved printing results. Overall, MPS provides very high reliability, maximum automation and high-quality service.’
Complete LED drying was Bizerba UK’s first choice when choosing its new flexo press. This purchase marks the first MPS press in the UK with full LED drying from GEW.
‘We have seen the adoption of LED in both Europe and the USA over the last few years and it is great to see this trend continuing at pace in the UK, as more and more printers realize the many benefits of LED,’ said Marcus Greenbrook, director of international sales for GEW Limited. ‘Thanks to Bizerba for being one of the pioneering printers to move to LED, and it made complete sense to purchase its first MPS with LED when starting a new site in the UK. I am sure this will be the first of many.’
The new press also features MPSConnect technology allowing real-time monitoring of the machine, including tracking essential data and providing reports helping customers limit downtime, reducing cost, and preventing breakdowns and ordering parts and supplies.
‘We are looking forward to adopting MPSConnect soon; the program's benefits will allow us to enhance further and improve our performance and output,’ concluded Ash.
