Epson receives platinum rating from EcoVadis

Joins the top 1 percent of all companies with a score of 83 out of 100.

Epson has earned a platinum rating for sustainability from EcoVadis. Epson’s latest platinum rating places it in the top 1 percent of all companies and is a testament to its ongoing commitment and notable improvements towards sustainable growth over the past year.

Epson has increased its overall score from 77 to 83 points out of 100. This independent certification also assures customers that Epson is one of the most responsible and accountable companies in its sector.

EcoVadis, the international ESG rating agency covers more than 220 industry categories and evaluates over 130,000 companies across 180 countries, assessing their operations and management systems in terms of environmental care and social responsibility. 

In the recent evaluation, Epson achieved outstanding rankings within its industry. It was ranked among the top 1 percent for both environment and labor & human rights and in the top 2 percent for sustainable procurement. Additionally, the company ranked in the top 30 percent for ethics. It is important to note that the EcoVadis assessment criteria have become increasingly stringent; this year, achieving a platinum medal required being in the top 1 percent of all assessed companies.

Epson is making significant strides toward its 2050 goal of becoming carbon-negative and underground resource-free. 
 
In FY23, following the switch to 100 percent renewable electricity use across its global sites (Epson fully owned sites), Epson Europe has continued to make further improvements to its decarbonization aims. Business travel emissions were reduced by 19 percent in fiscal year 2023 (as compared to fiscal year 2022). Optimized deliveries from Asian factories are projected to cut future CO2 emissions by 10-50 percent per container. Plans for a biomass plant in Japan will further reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
 
Epson has enhanced its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through comprehensive training initiatives. The company’s Indonesian and Philippine factories have been awarded Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) platinum status for ethical labor practices.
 
The company has received renewed certification from Bureau Veritas for aligning its operations with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
