Maschinenbau increases capacity with Screen press
German printing company Maschinenbau Sobkowiak has invested in a Screen Truepress L350UV+ press to increase its production capacity in response to the rapidly growing demand for labels.
Located close to Düsseldorf, Maschinenbau entered the German label-print market in 2014 after building a reputation as an industrial machine manufacturer. It was one of the first German printers to switch entirely to digital printing. The converter uses its new Truepress L350UV+ for a wide range of print jobs, from food labels to labels for cosmetics and industrial products.
‘Our strength is that we’re able to respond incredibly fast and with great flexibility to client demand. The Screen L350UV+ supports and facilitates this. It helps us differentiate ourselves in the market,’ commented Uwe Sobkowiak, CEO of Maschinenbau. ‘With the L350UV+, we upgraded to a much faster digital inkjet printer – and with it came better print quality, higher resolution, and reliability than our previous generation inkjet equipment. It meets our needs and that of our customers. It helped us rise to the challenge of the accelerating demand for labels, especially in the food industry.
Screen, which has sold over 200 units of label digital inkjet presses, has seen demand for digital print equipment in Germany speed up over the past few years.
‘This is driven by the need for fast and flexible print technology that is capable of delivering relatively small print runs fast, and with a high print quality that matches that of offset,’ said Patrick Jud, area director for DACH at Screen Europe. ‘In addition, digital print technology is more energy-efficient and produces less waste than conventional print technology, meeting the increasingly ambitious sustainability requirements of German companies. The growth of German investment in digital print technologies that we’re seeing today is likely to continue or even speed up in coming years.’
