Sonnentor invests in GM’s digital finisher
German herb and spices specialist Sonnentor has invested in Grafisk Maskinfabrik’s (GM) DC330Mini, a roll-to-roll label production line with a digital converter working in-line with a Konica Minolta, AL230 digital press, to handle all its labeling in-house.
Sonnentor Kräuterhandelsgesellschaft has been consistently growing since its foundation in 1988 and is now described as one of the most successful companies in Germany, with more than 400 employees. Its product range has expanded from the initial focus on organic herbs to spices, teas, coffees, cocoa, and a range of sweet treats.
Due to its fast-paced success and growing product range, the company decided to take its label production in-house by investing in a Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 230 digital press and a DC330Mini compact digital finishing machine provided and set up by Stepan, a German distributor of Grafisk Maskinfabrik equipment.
‘Sonnentor has been a very interesting customer since its core business is food and not label/packaging,’ commented Andreas Höfner, executive partner at Stepan. ‘In addition, its approach for local supply chain, green production, and its aim of limiting transport was an eye-opener as well. This will have an impact on our own dealing with resources in the future.’
