Schreiner MediPharm introduces tamper-proof closure seals
Germany-based Void-Labels provide visible, irreversible first opening indication
Schreiner MediPharm has launched a new product for counterfeit and tampering protection in the healthcare industry. The product utilizes void labels, which reveals covert messages upon peeling and makes it difficult for counterfeiters to reuse the original packaging. This helps to indicate the first opening of a package clearly and irreversibly.
Counterfeit medicines are a growing concern with a 200B USD black market worldwide, causing economic losses and reputational damage to the pharmaceutical industry. To address this, regulations such as the EU Falsified Medicines Directive and global ISO 21976 standard have been issued. Schreiner MediPharm's Void-Labels comply with these regulations.
Schreiner MediPharm's customized Void-Labels are designed for packaging varied materials and applications, preventing counterfeiters from reusing them. The seals come in assorted colors and materials, with customized designs to achieve different void effects.
The Void-Labels offer three types of void effects:
-
No Transfer: Peeling off the label leaves no residues on the pharmaceutical packaging. The void effect becomes visible only after it has been opened for the first time. Reclosure of the label with the visible void effect is possible.
-
Semi Transfer: Peeling off the label leaves partial residues on the pharmaceutical packaging. After the first opening, the void effect is visible both on the label and on the packaging. Reclosure of the label with the visible void effect is possible.
-
Full transfer: Peeling off the Void-Label leaves a complete coating layer on the packaging. Consequently, the void effect is visible on the pharmaceutical packaging and the label after first opening, but reclosure of the label is not possible.
Moreover, Schreiner MediPharm's Void-Labels come with a convenient tab for easy handling by users, and overt or covert authentication features can also be integrated, providing proof of authenticity. The seal is adapted precisely to the respective packaging and specific threat scenario, ensuring optimal and reliable performance.
