Beontag, a manufacturer of self-adhesives and smart tags such as RFID, NFC and Bluetooth technology, has launched phenol-free direct thermal papers to the US market. Developed to meet the increasing demand for safer labeling solutions across a variety of industries, these phenol-free facestocks maintain the same high performance as traditional phenol-based materials while reducing health risks by eliminating the use of Bisphenol-A (BPA) and BisphenolS (BPS), which can be harmful to humans.

Designed for performance, these materials match the high standards of traditional phenol by using safer alternatives. As a result, Beontag is delivering a product that not only meets the rigorous demands of industrial and commercial applications but also aligns with the growing global priorities around safety. Their self-adhesive products are designed for variable information labelling across a wide range of versatile applications, including food packaging, logistics and e-commerce.

This initiative ensures compliance with emerging regulations, including California’s Proposition 65 and Washington State’s Safer Products for Washington Act. By eliminating phenol-based facestocks, Beontag supports healthier supply chains and helps US companies meet evolving regulatory standards.

Erin Bernhardt, Beontag’s vice president of graphic and label materials, said: 'We are proud to launch this new phenol- free facestock offering, exemplifying once again Beontag’s mission to enable its clients and partners to have more secure labeling solutions. Additionally, our phenol-free facestocks’ adherence to US regulations will make for safer and more efficient supply chains.'
