SBTi validates Herma’s sustainability efforts
The company is committed to reducing its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent by 2030.

Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) has confirmed that Herma is contributing to achieving the 1.5-degree climate goal by 2030 by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and indirect emissions along the value chain.
SBTi has confirmed that within its direct sphere of influence, Herma is contributing towards pursuing the path of global warming that the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement has defined as the most ambitious goal.
Based on scientifically justified climate goals, companies undertake as part of the SBTi to voluntarily adopt measures that are necessary to limit the further increase in global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by the year 2100 – compared to the pre-industrial level of 1850.
The Herma climate goals validated by the SBTi at the end of 2024 include three aspects.
On the one hand, the company is committed to reducing its absolute greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 42 percent by 2030, compared to the base year 2021. This includes a 30 percent reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services as well as from end-of-life treatment, such as recycling or disposal, by 2030.
In addition, Herma is committed to reducing absolute Scope 3 emissions from upstream transport and distribution by 25 percent by 2030, compared to 2021.
‘All of these goals are ambitious but achievable,’ said Marcus Gablowski, chief sustainability officer at Herma. ‘The science clearly demonstrates to us that fast and decisive action is needed to limit the rise in temperature. Herma is pursuing this path with full conviction.
‘The validation of our climate goal by the recognized SBTi is an important milestone. It shows that our measures are based on a sound scientific foundation, and we are contributing to achieving the 1.5-degree climate goal.’
