Etirama has launched its new SPS3 flexo press at Labelexpo Europe 2023. The servo-driven SPS3 press, which has a 350mm web width, can be equipped with up to 10 colors and includes options such as cold foil, delam/relam, lamination, sheeter and turn bar for reverse printing.

An electronic pre-register system facilitates the production of small and medium-sized jobs with a quick and economical set-up. The versatile press can run at speeds of up to 150m/min, allowing it also to handle long runs effectively.

The press features Industry 4.0 connectivity, with remote technical assistance and the ability to provide information about its production in real time.

‘The SPS3, like all Etirama presses, features in its DNA a high capacity for profitability, providing a very fast return on investment,’ said Ronnie Schröter, CEO of the Brazilian press manufacturer.

The SPS3 can run self-adhesive, light cardboard and paper substrates. When equipped with UV LED or hot air curing, it can print unsupported films for the production of wraparound, in-mold and shrink sleeve labels. It is also suitable for printing aluminum blister packs.

The machine’s modular configuration allows flexibility for converters who want to make a lower initial investment. ‘Smaller customers can buy the machine with just six colors, for example, and then easily add more print stations as their business evolves and they want to upgrade their equipment,’ said Schröter.

‘We have already sold five 8-color SPS3 presses and we hope to end the year with at least 25 sales,’ said Schröter.

The machine is part of Etirama’s Global Series press line, launched in 2020 as part of a strategy to consolidate the company’s brand around the world. The Global Series range standardizes Etirama’s machines on a single platform with components made by international partners.

Other presses in the Global Series line include the 8-color SP1 and the 12-color SPS2. A fourth machine in the range – the Etirama SPS4 – will be launched in the first quarter of next year. It will feature a 450mm web width and a chill drum for high performance with unsupported flexible films with conventional UV drying.

Etirama, which has manufactured printing machines for more than 50 years, began producing flexo presses in 1998. The family-run company has installed more than 2,000 flexo presses in 42 countries.

Etirama opened a sales and service office in Lisbon, Portugal, in August 2022. ‘The next step for Etirama Europe will be to open a showroom next year,’ revealed Schröter.
