Glenroy celebrates 50 years in flexible packaging
Glenroy, a converter and printer of flexible packaging film and stand-up pouches, is celebrating its 50-year anniversary this month, and is targeting continued growth over the next 50 years and beyond.
Glenroy was established in July 1965 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with only three employees and a single facility. Positive word-of-mouth and a reputation for producing dependable packaging film led to a loyal following of customers and steady growth. Today, Glenroy employs over 200 people within four facilities, and supplies flexible packaging film and stand-up pouches to leading brands in a variety of industries. Founders Edwin, Ruth and Roy Jablonka named the company after Edwin and Ruth's two sons, Glen and Roy. Now under the third generation of family ownership, the leadership team continues to invest in the latest technology and its workforce to provide customers with a wide range of capabilities and top industry talent. In January 2015, Glenroy purchased the pouch converting operations of PF Flexibles to provide customers with extensive in-house premade pouch converting capability. In September 2015, Glenroy will unveil a new 4 million USD piece of equipment that will allow it to produce an expanded range of packaging film laminations.
The flexible packaging industry has changed dramatically since Glenroy opened its doors in 1965, yet the company's mission remains. ‘The world is a very different place than it was in the summer of 1965 when Dad, Mom and I opened the doors of our first facility,' said Roy Jablonka. 'What hasn't changed is the drive to always make a difference for our customers.’
Richard Buss, Glenroy president and CEO, added: ‘A key reason for our growth has been a passionate focus on making our customers successful, and the primary way to ensure the success of our customers is through our dedicated employees. This focus has been a key ingredient in our recipe for the past 50 years, and it will continue to be our priority during the next 50 years and beyond.’
