Mundet celebrates 95th anniversary

The company was recently recognized at the 2022 Golden Cylinder Awards.

US-based label and packaging converter Mundet has been celebrating its 95th anniversary with a reflection on its history and growth.

Founded in 1929 as the International Playing Card and Label Company, Mundet has grown to two industrial print facilities located in Surgoinsville, TN and Colonial Heights, VA. In 2016, the company joined the Austria-based Delfort Group giving it a global reach.

Mundet’s history is one of innovation. The company was most recently recognized at the 2022 Golden Cylinder Awards where it took home top honors in the Packaging and Label (Paper) category and Best of Show for its work on Bush’s Best Flavor Fusions Baked Beans. The unique metallic ink technology combined with photographic imagery and a high-gloss finish won the judges over with a unanimous decision.

‘On this momentous occasion of Mundet's 95th anniversary, I am deeply honored to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our dedicated employees,’ said Johnny Miller, general manager of Mundet Tennessee. ‘Their unwavering loyalty and passion have propelled us through nearly a century of success. With an exemplary safety record and a steadfast commitment to exceeding our customer expectations, we stand ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future with confidence and determination.’

Mundet’s growth has resulted in a capital project to increase efficiency and productivity. In January 2024, the company installed a new Polar automated cutting machine for its cut and stack label business with additional updates coming within both plants.
