Bobst installs first Masterfoil 106 PR
Köch & Glasder has installed the first Bobst Masterfoil 106 PR foil stamping press at its plant in Neuss, Germany. ‘In addition to its speed of 8,000 sheets per hour, I like the interplay between the dynamic Power Register II and the Smart Feeder system for the precision and reliability it brings to foil stamping,’ commented Thomas Glasder, the company’s managing partner. ‘It has reduced downtime by 75% - a big factor for a company operating three shifts.’
Also drawing praise is the longer contact time between the foil and the sheet that ensures high quality results with difficult shapes. Known as Foil Touch, it was a crucial factor in deciding on the investment, with the completely redesigned platen offering up to 50% more contact time than any other press available on the market.
The Easy Foil handling system, another part of the new machine's design, makes changing foils easy and reduces set up times. With operation of the Masterfoil 106 PR possible from anywhere between the feeder and delivery, via several touch screens located around the machine, the Masterfoil can process paper from 70 g/m2 up to cartonboard at 2,000 g/m2 and corrugated board up to 2 mm thick. Format size is 1,060 x 760 mm.
