Labels driving car care sales
Labels produced by Essentra Packaging have helped a car care brand substantially grow its market through new channels.
The Greased Lightning car care range includes a variety of cleaning and protection products for car exteriors and interiors. The range was launched into the UK though a TV shopping channel and is now also available on the Greased Lightning website, as well as through a growing number of retail outlets including garden centers and general merchandise stores. The range has recorded year-on-year growth of 20 percent.
The products were originally supplied from the USA and when manufacturing commenced in the UK, a local label supplier was sourced. ‘Both the technical capabilities and service standards set by our American suppliers were extremely high and we needed to ensure that these were replicated when we moved to the UK,’ said Sam Hogan of Greased Lightning Ltd.
‘Initially this proved something of a challenge but once Essentra was recommended to us, we found our ideal partner. The Essentra team’s manufacturing expertise is matched by an impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to the highest levels of service.
‘They always have our best interests at heart and are great to work with. They have never let us down and the result is high quality labels, which are cost-competitive and always produced and delivered to our requirements.’
Because the packs were originally developed for TV shopping, the label designs feature bold colors and designs to catch the eye and communicate brand values. The labels are printed in seven colors with strong single color backgrounds that distinguish the different product types combined with illustrations of the products in action on bodywork, tires, wheels and interiors.
The laminated substrate provides a high-end gloss finish and also ensures the durability of the label so it maintains its quality image in the home and while in use.
Simon Wildash, head of marketing for Essentra, said: ‘The use of labels for the Greased Lightning range demonstrates how they provide the ideal communication format to generate the necessary impact, attention and information when the products are demonstration on television or viewed online.
‘At the same time, the labels are practical and hard-wearing in order to ensure they look good on the product in use.’
