Mercian Labels overhauls online presence

Mercian Labels has overhauled its online presence with a totally new website in response to the evolving demands of its virtual audience in the past 12 months.

The new-look www.mercianlabels.com consolidates Mercian Labels’ established niche websites into one new site, with numerous specialist sites on short-run labeling, digital cartons and company information combined into one website that showcases the Mercian Labels brand as a single entity.

UV curing specialist Alpha-Cure recently launched a new-look website of its own as part of a corporate rebranding exercise.

Mercian Labels has had an online presence for a long time, and claims to be one of the first labeling businesses of its kind to attract significant growth through its website. However, it noted that since its move into the virtual world at the end of the 1990s the online market has become increasingly fluid, with potential customers searching for ever-more specific requirements and website design guidelines being updated constantly.

‘It’s all about delivering what customers, users and search engines are looking for,’ said Hugo Gell, sales director of the Mercian Labels Group. ‘With an extremely wide variety of businesses in our client base interacting with us online, it is important that our web presence supports our brand as we continue to grow and evolve.

‘With this new design we have pushed the boundaries again with a super-sized homepage demonstrating how we help our customer base to grow their businesses using high-quality labels.

‘A lot has changed since we first started marketing self-adhesive labels online in 1999. This time around our in-house web development team has been careful to ensure that the site is clever enough to cope with the ever-growing range of devices in use, with mobile-friendly features that automatically scale to work with different screen sizes on any equipment.

‘Some of the best content appreciated by our readership, including our blogs, case studies and testimonials, have been retained and migrated to the new site, whilst lots of new and useful content has been added.’

Social media is also fully integrated with the website, and Mercian Labels said it has further ideas and advances to build its online presence, which will be announced at Labelexpo Europe 2013.

Gell added: ‘The new site caters for a wide range of requirements – whether you’re a smaller volume end-user, a packaging professional or trade reseller you will find it relevant.’
