Durst acquires Callas Software

Callas will be pivotal in developing intelligent automation between machines, software and print processes.

Durst has acquired Callas Software, one of the leading providers of pre-press automation and PDF technologies which play an essential role in many print workflows, either directly or as an OEM component in leading pre-press products.

With this acquisition, Durst strengthens its software strategy and focuses on openness and connectivity within the printing industry. The objective is to develop intelligent automation between machines, software and print processes. At the same time, Callas Software will remain autonomous in its management and product development.

With Durst’s resources, the acquisition brings maximum stability and new technological opportunities for Callas customers and OEM partners. It will also create expanded integration options through access to Durst Group’s software technologies.

‘Maintaining Callas' independence was a central requirement for joining Durst Group. Our customers must be able to trust that Callas will continue as a reliable partner – while also gaining a new foundation for long-term innovation,’ said Dietrich von Seggern, CEO of Callas Software.

With the acquisition, Durst intensifies its strategy to build an open and connected software platform for the printing industry. Callas will connect isolated technologies and enable print service providers worldwide to achieve greater efficiency, scalability and flexibility.

In the coming months, Callas Software and Durst will deepen their collaboration to leverage synergies and accelerate the development of an open, vendor-independent software platform for the print industry.

‘This is not just another step towards digitalization – we are actively shaping the future of digital printing. With Callas at our side, we are making print software smarter, more connected, and more powerful. The best solutions arise when strong partners work together toward a shared vision,’ commented Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of the Durst Group.
