Toray Plastics (America) expands metalizing capacity
Toray Plastics (America) has begun construction on a 28,800 sq ft facility designed to house a new, high-speed, 4.5m-wide metalizer.
Toray Plastics (America) is the only US manufacturer of polypropylene, polyester, metallized and bio-based films, and which are used for flexible and rigid packaging, lidding, graphic, industrial, optical and electronic applications. It also manufactures polyolefin, polypropylene and polyethylene foams for the automotive and flooring industries. The company is a subsidiary of Toray Industries.
The construction, conducted by A. Autiello Construction of Cranston, Rhode Island, is expected to be completed by December 2016. Production on the new metalizer will commence in 2017.
The addition of this advanced metalizer is part of a multi-year strategic plan to expand and automate production capabilities in order to support Toray Plastics (America)’s customers’ growing demand, explained Christopher Roy, vice president and general manager of the company’s Torayfan division.
