Green Bay Packaging starts operations in Mexico City
Effective September first this year, Green Bay Packaging Inc., Coated Products Operations will produce pressure sensitive materials as well as offer slitting and distribution services in a Mexico City plant. The company has purchased a majority interest in ESAMEX, a long time strategic partner in this market.
‘The acquisition offers three key advantages for customers,’ explains Paul Hasemeyer, senior vice president of Green Bay Packaging Inc., Coated Products Operations. ‘We will significantly upgrade the plant’s slitting capabilities, as well as increase the breadth of the product line, but as importantly, we will raise inventory levels to allow for just-in-time product delivery for the market.’
Green Bay Packaging’s acquisition produces a new operating name in Mexico, Green Bay Mexico. Operations will continue at Norte 65 No. 1066-A. Col. Industrial Vallejo, CP. 02300 Mexico, D.F. Although under a new name, the strong leadership in the ESAMEX facility will continue. The company will operate with the resources and support of Green Bay Packaging, but will function with great autonomy.
‘Green Bay Packaging has had a long standing relationship with ESAMEX and the Levy family who will continue to operate the facility,’ said Hasemeyer. ‘Azlan Levy will continue to serve as general manager of the facility after the purchase is finalized, and I can’t say enough about their expertise and commitment. Their focus on customers and company culture are a great match for our own customer-focused way of doing business.’
Green Bay Mexico will continue to offer all of ESAMEX’s previous broad line along with products from Green Bay Packaging’s domestic line, including standard white papers (gloss, semi-gloss, EDP and pharmaceutical), fluorescents, direct thermal, thermal transfer, laser, foils and holograms, and films.
‘We’re excited to be able to give our customers in Mexico a higher level of product, a greater level of support and a deeper array of options,’ continues Hasemeyer. ‘The new acquisition brings an established alternative to a growing market, giving label converters a stronger source of supply then they’ve had in the past.’
