Esko’s XPS Crystal gets sustainability certification
Certification validates company's energy saving claims
Esko’s XPS Crystal flexo imaging unit has received certified energy savings and dematerialization certifications from GreenCircle, a third-party certification body that verifies the validity of sustainability claims.
The XPS Crystal achieved energy savings of 41 percent for tradeshops, 59 percent for converters and a 92 percent reduction in waste over its lifetime. The energy savings are a result of the UV LED array used in place of mercury tubes in traditional light tables.
The XPS Crystal uses digital UV LED exposure to improve flexo plate quality, providing UV power for curing through preset parameters with almost zero energy consumption in idle mode.
Jan De Roeck, Esko's director of marketing, industry relations and strategy, noted that sustainability has evolved into a critical demand for brands and packaging suppliers.
De Roeck added that Esko's focus on developing technologies that eliminate waste while improving quality and efficiency will continue in the future.
