FC Cartons strengthens production capabilities

UK carton finishing specialist FC Cartons has installed a Videojet 1520 continuous inkjet printer and hot melt adhesive applicator in a bid to enhance and further develop its current capabilities.

Designed for more difficult surfaces on complex materials, FC Cartons’ hot melt gluing applicator can provide thread-free, peelable and accurate application of adhesive dots and lines

The Videojet 1520 is a highly flexible platform that has been specifically designed for medium-duty coding applications. It can be used to print dates, numbers, initials and promotional materials in up to 26 different languages.

Its versatility also means that it can be used in conjunction with FC Cartons’ many other capabilities, such as die-cutting, window patching, carton nesting, gluing and more. Earlier this year FC Cartons installed an Iberica JR-105 die-cutting unit.

In addition to running promotions, inline inkjet printing can be used to ensure the traceability of cartons through the supply chain.

David Woodyatt, FC Cartons’ managing director, said: ‘The new Videojet 1520 printer has enabled us to diversify our services and improve our efficiency and capacity. It offers us quick, customizable manufacturing which in turn enables us to provide our customers with high value, a variety of options and excellent customer service.’

Further investment has come in the form of a new hot melt adhesive applicator.

Designed for more difficult surfaces on complex materials, FC Cartons’ hot melt gluing applicator can provide thread-free, peelable and accurate application of adhesive dots and lines. The hot melt application heads are capable of firing up to 120 glue dots per second with pinpoint accuracy.
