Flexi Labels wins back business with HP Indigo 6900
UK-based Flexi Labels has expanded its customer base and met new market demands, thanks to the recent investment in an HP Indigo 6900 digital press.
Based in Peterborough, Flexi Labels specializes in producing personalized and custom-sized self-adhesive labels, delivering throughout the UK and Europe. Founded in 2012, its primary goal has been to provide short runs of labels to a broad range of customers, including retail, corporate, and individuals.
Following the success in providing labels on sheets, in 2018, Flexi Labels engaged with customers requesting short runs of labels on rolls. However, due to its existing setup, the company had to turn down this business. The company then spent the next year exploring technology that would enable them to meet the growing demand in this sector. After visiting different machine manufacturers, producing samples, and running cost analysis, HP’s digital printing technology has beaten the competition in all aspects. This led Flexi Labels to invest in an HP Indigo 6900 digital press.
According to the company, since the installation of the new press, it was able to respond to the demand for printed labels on rolls, provide different finishes and assist in the production of custom requests, and offer variable data printing to its customers. The new equipment contributed to securing new business and re-partnering with previously turned down customers.
‘The leading technology of HP Indigo allowed us to explore new and almost endless applications, creating more demand from our customers, and allowing us to fulfill the requests that come in,’ commented Assad Gilani, operations director of Flexi Labels.
Flexi Labels has also been using Print OS and praise the system’s powerful features, including a media locater giving the ability to quickly adapt to new substrates and reporting.
‘The HP Indigo 6900 digital press is the “swiss army knife” of the label world,’ added Tony Lock, labels and packaging sales manager for the UK and Ireland at HP Indigo. ‘It’s great to see Flexi Labels take advantage of the press’ wide spectrum of substrate and application capabilities to expand its customer base and target growing market demands such as labels on rolls, so to maintain its position as a leading label manufacturer.’
