German confectionery firm extends print capabilities with HP Indigo WS6800 digital press
Germany's Kalfany Süße Werbung has extended its range of print capabilities with the addition of a narrow web HP Indigo WS6800 digital press, which is expected to enable the company to further extend its capabilities in printing high-quality personalized products, and to further streamline the production of the confectionery packaging and promotional products for which the company is best known.
Confectionery specialist Kalfany, a subsidiary of Zertus Group, which also includes the company Dextro Energy and Import Wilms, operates its own printing house dedicated to printing food packaging, and specializes in promotional confectionery items. The company uses flexo, pad printing and digital technology. It is expected that the new HP Indigo WS6800 digital press will be used predominantly to print flexible packaging for products such as packets of gummy bears or wrapping foil for chocolate figures.
The HP Indigo WS6800 prints at speeds of up to 197ft/min (60m/min) on substrates with a maximum web width of 13.4in (340mm) and a maximum thickness of 450 microns. It is designed for a wide range of substrates including self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves, wrap-around labels, tube laminate and cartons. By default, the press prints in four colors but can print with up to seven colors on press, including white, spot colors and other special inks.
‘With the purchase of the HP Indigo WS6800 digital press, we leverage the many years of successful collaboration with HP Indigo,’ said Klaus Richter, deputy managing director and chief operating office of Kalfany Süße Werbung. ‘With this investment, we continue to produce individualized print products of the highest quality, and ensure we are well equipped to meet the customer requirements of tomorrow.’
