Polytag, one of the leading recycling tech companies, has appointed Jonathan Anderson as chief technology officer (CTO) and Will Addy as chief commercial officer (CCO). Together, they will play a crucial role in accelerating the company’s growth, which has gained significant momentum over the last year through numerous partnerships with leading brands and retailers across the UK and Europe.

Anderson, a technology leader with over a decade of IT experience, brings extensive expertise in scaling infrastructures, building high-performance teams and driving innovation across industries. In his previous role at razorblue, he led research, development and project management initiatives, working with clients in professional services and manufacturing.

As chief technology officer, Anderson will spearhead the company’s technology strategy, focusing on the development and optimization of Polytag’s Ecotrace programme.

Addy joins Polytag with over 10 years of experience in commercial strategy and business development, having achieved milestones such as landing businesses on the FTSE 250 list and most recently, sitting as head of sales at Sedex, a supply chain services provider. Addy has also worked with GlobalData, Hyve Group and MetLife UK.

He has experience in scaling go-to-market strategies and building high-performance sales teams. Polytag aims to use Addy's experience to expand its customer base as the demand for legislation-ready QR codes rises.

The appointments of Anderson and Addy strengthen Polytag’s position as the company seeks to accelerate its growth further, driven by many recent investment rounds and expanding partnerships across Europe.

Alice Rackley, CEO of Polytag, said: 'Since Polytag began in 2017, we’ve been all about proving and solidifying our technology as a go-to-market choice for FMCG brands and retailers to track its packaging throughout the lifecycle. Our recent partnerships with the likes of M&S and Ocado demonstrate that our technology is able to make a difference and we are ready to onboard new team members to continue moving in the right direction.

'Anderson and Addy’s combined expertise in supply chain and technology and business development will be instrumental in delivering fantastic client support to our current roster and opening the doors to new companies, retailers and businesses looking to get future-ready.

Jonathan Anderson, chief technology officer at Polytag, said: 'It is an exciting time for Polytag as the company has recently gone from strength to strength. While QR codes continue to gain traction, a DRS is also on the horizon as a solution to improve packaging traceability. This places Polytag at the precipice of real change. I am ready to be on the team delivering a digital, data-first and secure solution to the FMCG industry and wider supply chain as the industry looks to streamline and optimise processes.'

Will Addy, chief commercial officer at Polytag, said: 'Polytag is a unique business with a unique proposition, unlike something I have ever worked on before. Now is a key time for packaging and waste management industries to utilize data touchpoints from the supply chain to revolutionize recycling processes. I am privileged to have joined a brilliant, inspired team who are actively calling for change to promote the adoption of QR codes and push for new policies to modernize the waste management sector in the UK. There’s a lot of potential to make a difference and I’m looking forward to working with industry and government partners to help modernize the UK’s waste management sector.'
