Multiprint Labels reports success with Gallus flexo press

Multiprint Labels, based in Dublin, installed a Gallus RCS 430 flexo press in March 2012.

With potential for utilizing 10 flexo printing units or five offset heads – in any combination – plus a foiling unit, the press has provided the flexibility for Multiprint to focus on wine, spirits and other high end markets. An embossing unit can also be added.

Printing heads can be changed without breaking the web. Bill Smyth, technical manager, said: ‘With our excellent pre-press department we are able to make the best use of the consistency, speed, flexibility and economics of the Gallus RCS 430. It is all about relationships with your press manufacturer. We buy quality to last and the technical support to go with it. To be competitive you have to keep up with technology.’

With the new press, Multiprint is able to meet demand for just in time logistics. The Gallus RCS 430 is said to save make ready time and material while providing impressive color consistency. Gear marking is a thing of the past thanks to the servo drive motors.

A senior press operator commented: ‘A really nice feature, apart from being easier to use, is the new foil separator which automatically separates the hot foiling unit when the press is stopped, this saves us so much time on the pres. The ability of having online help 24 hours a day gives us great confidence when running this new press.’

Gallus provided a comprehensive training regime at its factory and in-house at Multiprint. ‘From a quality assurance perspective it is important that instant decisions are made regarding quality which is a lot easier with our new Gallus RCS 430 press,’ commented
Ruth O’Hanlon, quality control manager. ‘Consistency of quality is much more dependable, even compared to our older presses.’

Multiprint will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2014, by which point the company, said Bill Smyth will have expanded its wine portfolio, be established in the spirits business in Ireland and Europe, and be ‘a force to be reckoned with’ in the health and beauty markets.
