Fix-a-Form launches new generation ECL machine
Machinery manufacturer Fix-a-Form Engineering Solution will launch a new generation of leaflet labels machine at Labelexpo Americas in September. It is the first publically available machine to fold and affix leaflets to web in a single pass, the company says.
The Fold&Fix 2000 represents a change in the way leaflet labels are produced. As well as folding in-line the machine also incorporates inkjet printing, hot-melt slot gluing, laminating, adjustable pre-curve and a flat-bed die cutter. The machine also includes an innovative slide in friction feeder for pre-folded booklets.
As managing director Andrew Denny said, ‘there are considerable advantages to folding in-line. As well as saving an entire operation, it also reduces product handling and queuing times. More importantly though, it means the machine can run for around 20 minutes before needing to be reloaded, as opposed to most other leaflet label machines which need topping up every 20 seconds or so, which is a constant job usually requiring a second operator.’
The Fold&Fix 2000 is capable of running web widths up to 16½ inches, and of placing leaflets sizes of up to 15 inches or down to ¾ inch at typical running speeds of up to 100 ft/min. Fix-a-Form Engineering Solutions is part of the UK-based Denny Bros Group, pioneers of the leaflet label concept. The company has been making leaflet label machinery for more than 30 years.
