Sun Chemical launches varnishes for HP Indigo
Sun Chemical has introduced a new range of durable UV varnishes for enhancing the resistance of HP Indigo digitally printed pressure-sensitive labels for products such as personal care, household, chemical, beverage, and pharma applications.
The new range of varnishes was formulated to provide adhesion to HP Indigo ElectroInk and designed to provide high levels of mechanical durability on HP Indigo printed labels. It delivers mechanical, chemical, water, and thermal resistance withstanding bottle-to-bottle scuffing test.
The new varnishes promote cross-linking with the HP Indigo ElectroInk and the primer layer to improve physical properties and high durability in challenging applications. They are press-ready and do not require the addition of any press-side additives for ease of use and can be printed using standard UV coating equipment. They have been tested across some of the most popular label substrates, including PP white, PP clear and metalized substrates, ensuring a consistent level of performance.
Two new products are available as part of the set: EV-LU028 GLOSS and EV-LU029 MATTE. The range is available to be ordered immediately. Commercial production has started in Europe, with other regions following shortly.
‘We have conducted field trials with the HP Indigo community across many countries for a few months and the response has been phenomenal,’ said Marcos Valdezate, global business development manager for SunEvo coatings for digital at Sun Chemical. ‘Customers have challenged the durability of these varnishes and have seen how long-lasting they are. This is another great example of how coating innovation can expand the range of applications for digital printers and actively expand their offering.’
‘Through innovative varnishes, adhesives and coatings, DIC and Sun Chemical are enabling HP Indigo customers to pursue cutting edge solutions,’ added Itai Shifriss, HP Indigo global supplies business director. ‘We appreciate our collaboration with DIC and Sun Chemical and look forward to advancing our customers' growth together.’
