Toray Plastics named healthiest employer

The American branch of Toray Plastics has been named the winner of this year’s edition of Healthiest Employers of Rhode Island, honored for its culture, leadership, foundation components and strategic planning among other decisive factors.

Lisa Ahart, Toray Plastics’s VP of US corporate human resources and environmental health and safety, accepted the Providence Business News’ 2019 Healthiest Employers of Rhode Island award.

The Healthiest Employers award program was developed and is administered by Springbuk, a health analytics software company in cooperation with Providence Business News (PBN).

This year’s award applicants were evaluated based on responses to more than 60 questions that encompass six areas: communication and marketing, culture and leadership commitment, foundation components, programming and interventions, reporting and analysis, and strategic planning. Completed assessments were ranked according to the proprietary Healthiest Employers Index for wellness programming.

Toray Plastics has been named the winner in 2019 Healthiest Employer of Rhode Island in the category of companies with 2,000 to 4,900 employees.

‘Toray is a great place to work for many reasons. Among them is our employee health and wellness program,’ said Lisa Ahart, VP of US corporate human resources and environmental health and safety at Toray Plastics. ‘People come first at Toray, and leadership here is committed to their well-being. We are honored to be recognized by PBN for our efforts.’

Toray offers employees comprehensive health plans. It launched a wellness program in 2000 following the opening of the company’s Education and Wellness Center, which employees are encouraged to utilize during work hours. The company’s wellness program also offers weight loss challenges, group exercise and yoga classes, flu shot clinics, a hiking club and charity races.
