UK converter installs two Gallus presses

Parkers, a UK-based packaging and label converter, is to install two new Gallus EM 410 S hybrid presses as part of the refurbishment of its Liverpool-based facility.

The new presses represent a GBP £2 million investment. The first Gallus will be delivered in January 2011 and the second is scheduled for March.

’This investment is both bold and exciting. It is about more than just the capability and quality of the presses. We have been a Nilpeter house for twenty-five years so this was a major change for us and the decision was based on the willingness of Gallus to listen to our expansion plans and form a true partnership. Plus the presses are a fantastic piece of kit,’ said Phil Hood, sales director at Parkers.

Parkers has three main areas of activity: printing self-adhesive labels, applying them to pots and bottles and also producing plastic and aluminum seal diaphragms.

’We needed a solution that would add value to our business and the Gallus proposal satisfied these demands by offering us easier, more efficient make-readies and faster running speeds with terrific quality and reliability,’ said Eugene Roche, business development director at Parkers. ’We also get the huge benefit of having Gallus (with its partner Heidelberg in the background) as our partner as we develop new products and markets. The EM 410 S presses are wide and effortlessly switch between a variety of substrates from board to 20 micron film. This means they are incredibly flexible and so will enable us to take full advantage of new opportunities. We are currently developing a new product which is under patent application and wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without Gallus’s help. The partnership is helping us to move forward with confidence and provide a brighter future for all our staff.’

The Gallus EM 410 S is based on a modular platform with servo-driven hybrid printing units. The hybrid UV flexo printing (front and reverse) and rotary screen printing units combine with hot foil stamping and cold foil printing, as well as finishing options which include varnishing and laminating. Processing options include rotary processing, length slitting and cross cutting as well as relief embossing.
