GEW plans launch of LED systems at Labelexpo Americas

The company will focus on its label and narrow web products at the show.

GEW has confirmed the launch of two new LED products—AeroLED2 and LeoLED2 at Labelexpo Americas 2024. AeroLED2 will be launched as a successor to GEW’s air-cooled AeroLED UV curing system and cater to the narrow web market. Its LeoLED2 will succeed the water-cooled LeoLED system and will support the sheetfed and industrial applications.

AeroLED2 delivers an increased power level when compared to the original AeroLED model, for faster printing across more applications. It is also available for wider web widths, to cater to more presses in the narrow web market. AeroLED2 maintains the key attributes of the earlier model. It is ArcLED compatible, meaning that it can easily be interchanged with GEW’s arc lamp systems. It also maintains GEW’s unique centralized fan cooling architecture.

LeoLED2 introduces two power level options to GEW’s water-cooled system. The regular power option offers modest gains over the original LeoLED, while maintaining backward compatibility. The high-power option, however, brings high increases in UV irradiance and dose over its predecessor, delivering enhanced performance for extreme curing challenges in the packaging market.

LeoLED2 also maintains the key attributes of the earlier model. It is ArcLED compatible with the same level of temperature control and condensation protection. It is also fully compatible with LeoLED, featuring the exact same connections and external dimensions.

GEW at Labelexpo Americas

While GEW will feature its full range at Labelexpo Americas, the focus will be on its label and narrow web products. The company claims that its UV curing systems can support printing, coating and converting application—due to the breadth of its product range across both UV Arc and UV LED curing technologies.

GEW will also demonstrate its ‘ArcLED’ technology, in which UV Arc and UV LED lamp-heads can be easily and quickly interchanged on a press. ArcLED capability is available with almost every type of GEW system installation, including narrow web, mid and wide-web machinery and across a broad range of applications. With ArcLED, both Arc and LED cassettes are compatible with the same power supply and fit in the same housing for press flexibility.

A further benefit of ArcLED is that it can be enabled in any combination of Arc and LED in the short-term. The UV system configuration can be altered or fully upgraded to LED later, with minimal disruption, as per the company.

Robert Rae, managing director of sales at GEW, commented: ‘We have so much to offer the customer, across such a broad range of UV curing applications. Now with the introduction of AeroLED2 and LeoLED2 to our range, we have the highest performing, most reliable LED systems in the market.’

He concluded: ‘We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to our stand and having the opportunity to show off these ground-breaking new products. We believe that AeroLED2 will become the default UV curing application for label and narrow web, as its capabilities are now extended to cater for the entire market.’
