Thavorn Ribbon & Label acquires fifth Nilpeter press
Thai converter increases production capacity and forays into food packaging segment
Thailand based Thavorn Ribbon & Label has acquired its fifth Nilpeter press – FB-350 flexo press. The converter plans to expand production capacity and enter food packaging segment with the new press.
Thavorn has over 30 years of success in producing stickers and packaging labels. The converter’s transition from letterpress to the flexo press began in 2010 with the Nilpeter FB-2500 model. Following the initial shift, it went on to add three more FB-2500 presses in the subsequent years of 2012, 2014, and 2017. Keeping with the trend of continually upgrading its resources, Thavorn has recently taken a significant step by acquiring the latest Nilpeter FB-350.
Prajak Cholchalathan, owner of Thavorn Ribbon & Label, remarked: ‘Nilpeter presses have been an integral part of our growth story, playing a pivotal role in enhancing our productivity and offering us a high degree of flexibility and high performance in printing. All four of our existing presses have been efficient, smooth, and accurate. Moreover, the support from the Nilpeter service team has always been good, always being there when needed.’
The decision to invest in the new press primarily stems from a need to increase production capacity. The existing FB-2500 press, with its 250 mm web width limitation and subsequent after-press process challenges, restrained Thavorn's potential market reach.
‘With just a 250mm print width, we faced certain market restrictions. However, with Nilpeter's top-notch machinery quality, we will seamlessly be able to execute combined jobs with digital printing in the future. There are no register issues, ensuring a top-tier product. The new FB-350 press, boasting a wider print width and a 10-color palette, not only promises increased production efficiency but also significantly reduces waste,’ Cholchalathan added.
Thavorn Ribbon & Label envisions capitalizing on this new addition by expanding its horizons into the food packaging market. One of the standout features of its new press is the integrated LED-UV system. The press ensures premium quality print jobs and also resonates with the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
