Commercial printer Bennett Graphics invests in HP Indigo labels press
Bennett Graphics, a 48-year-old second generation commercial printer with more than 50 employees based in Tucker, Georgia, has purchased an HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press to move into the labels market. The printer participates mostly in the business-to-business sector producing marketing materials and wide format signage with a focus on educational and non-profit organizations. Print jobs are currently produced using two 40in Heidelberg sheetfed offset presses, one five color and one six color, and HP Indigo 10000 and 7800 Digital Presses. It also has HP wide format equipment.
David Bennett, president of Bennett Graphics, said, 'We had been reviewing a move into the labels space for 2-3 years. With the increased margin pressures with our traditional offset work, we believe the shift into labels will alleviate the margin pressure and balance our portfolio. Many of our end user clients that we produce offset cartons for have inquired about ordering labels from us.'
'Were comfortable with the HP technology because we have been using it for many years. We know there's a learning curve with labels and definitely differences in the finishing side from what we’re used to doing on digital short run. We know that we can move into the space successfully with the help of HP and their partners.'
Bennett Graphics expects to install the HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press in October along with an ABG Series 3 with a flexo station, die-cutting, laminating and cold foiling. The printer plans to use the business development services that HP offers for labels and packaging to train its current sales force.
Bennett concluded, 'We're excited about the investment and see it as a game changing event for the company.'
The sale was announced during Graph Expo 2015.
