Nordvalls increases productivity with ABG finishing systems

Scandinavian converter meets the increasing demands of digital printing with latest ABG investment.

Nordvalls, among Scandinavia's top label supplier, has installed advanced finishing technology from A B Graphic International (ABG) with further solutions now agreed. The move has enabled Nordvalls to meet the increasing demands of digital printing with efficiency and speed.

Nordvalls offers a wide range of adhesive labels, including innovative multi-colored and speciality labels. In response to the installation of an HP Indigo V12 digital press in late 2023, Nordvalls sought to enhance its production line to keep pace with the output of this advanced printing press.

This enhancement involved the purchase of ABG's non-stop unwinder and rewinder systems. Designed in partnership with HP, the systems integrate seamlessly with the HP Indigo V12 digital press, featuring  guarding and tension control. This setup not only complements the press’s capabilities but also helps increase overall productivity by maintaining continuous operation.

Building on this success, Nordvalls also invested in ABG's flagship Digicon Series 3 with turret rewinder. This finishing system transforms printed rolls into finished products with high speed and precision. The inclusion of ABG’s patented fast-track die, which now reaches speeds of up to 180 meters a minute (semi-rotary), marks a significant advancement in the efficiency of label production.

After drupa, Nordvalls invested in a second HP Indigo V12 digital press. This then led to a purchase of another non-stop unwinder and rewinder from ABG, as well as another Digicon Series 3, allowing Nordvalls to take its production capacity to the next level.

Matt Burton, global sales director at ABG, said: 'We are dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of digital printing. Our collaboration with Nordvalls exemplifies this commitment, as we continue to focus on enhancing our technologies to support our customers’ growth and success.’

‘We have had a strong working relationship with ABG both in England and Sweden for many years,’ added Patrik Jenemark, managing director at Nordvalls. ‘They understand our needs and we strongly believe their product offering is not just innovative but also suits our production requirements now and for the future.’
