Holostik India launches Optashield
Optashield will prevent counterfeiting and provide an easy way for end-customer to authenticate a product
Holostik India, a combined physical and digital security provider, has launched a new anti-counterfeiting technology, Optashield.
Counterfeiting has become a hot topic as the market is flooded with counterfeited products. Consequently, the demand for anti-counterfeiting and product tracking features in product labels has increased. Label manufacturers now offer a range of anti-counterfeit labelling products, such as holographic labels, tamper-evident labels, and track-and-trace technologies. In addition, it has spurred innovation in developing new and more sophisticated anti-counterfeiting technologies.
Looking at the increasing number of counterfeited labels, Holostik India has introduced Optashield. It is an anti-counterfeit security strip that can be applied on both labels and holographic stickers. The main reason for introducing Optashield was to provide a convenient way for an end consumer standing in the retail store to authenticate a product. The security strip is broadly supported and durable across a wide range of material substrates and application processes and can be laminated on PET, HDPE, LDPE, and paper.
Optashield can be applied on security holograms, product labels, and tax stamps. It adds a brand authentication complement to an existing packaging or product portfolio. It displays two different colors at two varying angles.
The sectors that can be benefit from adopting the Optashield security strip are pharma, automotive, agro, FMCG, liquor, tobacco, e-commerce, sports, and fitness.
Shobhit Gupta and Ankit Gupta, joint managing directors, Holostik India, say: ‘The anti-counterfeiting industry is constantly evolving to stay ahead of counterfeiters. There is a growing demand for advanced technologies that are highly secure & convenient to verify for end-customers. Optashield is one such innovative product from the house of Holostik that will make product authentication for end customers easy and quick.’
‘At Holostik, we believe constant innovation in anti-counterfeit technologies can prevent counterfeiting. We have assigned 5 percent of our annual budget to research and development and are always at the forefront of introducing new technologies in the market. Upgrading product packaging with new technologies will keep counterfeiters on the back foot. Product manufacturers must understand that investing in the right anti-counterfeit technology is an investment, not an expense. Also, educating consumers and businesses about the risks of counterfeiting is important’, the Gupta brothers conclude.
