Duo develop pouch program to hasten market adoption

Packaging company EnVision Flexible Packaging and food firm Coyote Kitchen have launched a new program for hastening the creation of flexible packaging solutions, as well as promoting the environmental benefits of pouches.

The FastTrak FlexiPak program brings together Coyote, a contract manufacturing/packaging company not versed in making pouches, and EnVision, a pouch converter not used to working with the products to be packaged. The result is described as, ‘a quality package that allows product manufacturers to have the environmental advantages of a pouch.’
EnVision said this includes the option of using water-based inks, which have less than five percent volatile organic compounds (VOCs), compared with solvent-based inks, generally containing 40-65 percent VOCs.

'EnVision is smart in pouches, and Coyote is smart in manufacturing...this makes for a great team’

In addition, EnVision and Coyote, both based in Phoenix, Arizona, said the program offers a quick turnaround service for manufacturers to get their goods onto store shelves, as well as trial runs for any packaging changes so they can be minimized in terms of both time and cost.

EnVision is a provider of turnkey packaging solutions for consumer product manufacturers. EnVision aims to allow its clients to package their products with custom pouching options within their strategic budgets that also achieve social responsibility and environmental stewardship. EnVision maintains a corporate philosophy that professional packaging should engage the consumer regardless of the product's content or purpose, and flexible packaging offers a new and different visual presentation that will help capture attention over traditionally packaged products.

Coyote Kitchen provides the product manufacturing and packaging ability of the FastTrak FlexiPak program, as it has been a supplier of bottled sauces, salsa and salad dressings for nearly three decades. Coupled with EnVision's industry knowledge of flexible packaging, this means Coyote's products can now be made available in pouches in four months or less. Additionally, Coyote is able to move outside its core markets and offer contract manufacture and packaging for other products in pouches through the program.

‘The EnVision-Coyote relationship enables consumer product manufacturers to test the pouch market prior to making large capital investments,’ said Liesl Harder Kielp, EnVision's founder and president. ‘They can tweak their product and message at minimal cost.

'EnVision is smart in pouches, and Coyote is smart in manufacturing. This makes for a great team.’

Brent Cornelius, the founder and chief executive officer of Coyote Kitchen, added: ‘Our advantage is that we can give customers big company results with small company relationships. We pride ourselves in customers being offered custom solutions to their packing needs.’
