HP Indigo presents second EMEA Inkspiration Awards
HP Indigo has used the occasion of the latest Dscoop EMEA conference to present the second set of Inkspiration Awards to the region's printers and converters using its digital printing technology to produce a range of work.
Some 250 real-world jobs were submitted as entries by 100 companies from across the EMEA region. These were spread across eight categories, from Self-promotion and Publishing, to Labels, Flexible Packaging and Folding Carton.
The Labels category was won by Israel’s Pitkit Printing Enterprises, who beat the UK’s Amberley Adhesive Labels and Russia’s Aleithe. The Flexible Packaging prize went to Foxpak Flexibles of Ireland, who beat Germany’s Linhardt and UK printer Ultimate Digital. France’s Digital Packaging took away the Folding Carton trophy, with Germany’s Dygy and Spain’s Serafi as runners up.
Prior to the presentation of that final award, it was announced that the Folding Carton category would be dedicated to former HP Indigo employee Sven Fischenich, who sadly died last year in a plane crash. His father Jürgen took to the stage to present the award to a standing ovation from attendees.
Two People’s Choice Awards were also presented, with Spanish label printer Coreti’s Turmeon entry honored for reinventing a traditional wine bottle label by using a semi-transparent wrapround overlayed on top of the printed paper label, which when rotated gives the impression of the label’s graphics becoming animated.
The second EMEA Inkspiration Awards were presented during the opening of Dscoop Ideas Hub, taking place this week (April 5-8) in Tel Aviv, Israel. During the opening, it was also confirmed that the Dscoop EMEA organization has doubled its membership, from 400 to 800, since the introduction of its Open Membership scheme last year. The number of regional chapters in territories across the EMEA region has also increased, along with the creation of a labels and packaging chapter. The first Inkspiration Awards were presented to Dscoop EMEA members last year, with the inaugural North American awards to be presented next week at Dscoop San Antonio.
