Parkside wins award for reclosable crisp bag

Parkside, a speciality packaging provider, has won a Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Award for its reclosable sharing crisp bag for Seabrook Crisps.

In collaboration with the brand, Parkside designed and developed the crisp pack that enables consumers to peel open the front of the packet for sharing, before reclosing and saving for later. The pack utilizes laser scribing technology from Parkside that creates an integral opening of any size, shape or position as part of a pack design. The reclosability feature helps to keep crisps fresher for longer when compared to an open pack, it is claimed. Furthermore, the range uses specialized, high quality materials to ‘emphasize the premium positioning of the range’.

Paula Birch, sales director at Parkside, said: ‘The crisps, snacks and nuts market is highly competitive and Parkside has innovative products which rival existing packaging formats that will help the company to gain a foothold in this sector and for it to become one of our largest categories.’

In the Stationers Innovation Excellence Awards, Parkside was competing against other companies in the paper, ink, printing, publishing, advertising, marketing, copyright licensing and packaging sectors.

The Stationers’ Company award win builds on the success Parkside experienced earlier this year when the company won two awards at the European Flexographic Industry Association (EFIA) annual print awards. Parkside also received an accolade for its compostable pack in the global World Food Innovation Awards, held earlier this year.

‘We are immensely proud of this product and, of course, its associated award,’ continued Birch. ‘It’s our third award this year alone. We are now being recognized as a company which creates new innovative packaging that is valued by brand owners, converters and consumers alike.’
