Dampening control is uplifting for Graphic Packaging

Graphic Packaging has installed technotrans equipment at its plant in Bristol, UK, to improve the quality of the fount solution used on its B1 format manroland 806 press.

‘In an age when everything is data driven, having measurable control over our fount solution is very important,’ said Justin May, technical manager of Graphic Packaging International.

The two products installed are an alpha.r reverse osmosis system, which feeds standardized water into the dampening solution, and an alpha.d dampening solution circulator, which keeps the temperature constant.

‘Temperature control is critical to quality and productivity, but the dampening solution itself must also be right,’ explained May.  ‘The pH value and conductivity of our fresh water supply is inconsistent, but the technotrans equipment allows us to optimize our results to good effect,’ he concluded.
