HP Indigo demonstrates digital flexible packaging presses
The new HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press was seen demonstrating narrow web printing for high-volume label and packaging production.
The press helps label and flexible packaging printers reach new levels of productivity and reduces time spent preparing color profiles and Pantone color matching by as much as 75 percent with an in-line spectrophotometer. Using closed-loop control, the spectrophotometer reduces the need for manual color calibrations and adjustments. An expanded frame width compared to the HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press allows for higher press output and reduced costs. In addition, users can produce up to 130 fpm in color using Enhanced Productivity Mode (EPM).
Also on display for the first time in North America, the continuous-feed HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press printed on packaging films as thin as 10 microns. It features a printing frame of 29 x 43 inches and an in-line priming unit for enhanced substrate flexibility. Materials printed on the press are compatible with dry lamination and comply with food packaging regulations when used with good manufacturing practices. There are seven color stations, including white and the press hits speeds of 82 fpm when printing in full color. Both machines are driven by HP SmartStream Labels and Packaging Workflow Suite 4.0 powered by Esko.
