Coveris opens new facility in Germany
Coveris, one of the leading European flexible packaging manufacturers, has opened a new medical site in Rohrdorf, Germany, in line with its modernization and expansion program to grow the medical segment with significant investments towards industry 4.0.
For the opening celebrations, Jakob A. Mosser, group CEO at Coveris, has visited the new, modern, and energy-optimized building.
According to Coveris, with the state-of-the-art environment for reliable production, the site offers the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene thanks to its ISO Class 7 cleanroom.
‘As part of our Coveris 2.0 growth strategy, we have invested an enormous amount in the last two years in our medical packaging business segment,’ commented Mosser. ‘We overachieved the requirements in terms of hygiene, cleanliness, traceability, and safety standards. We have invested over 50 million EUR in our two German medical packaging locations. In Halle, which is our flagship plant and our new facility in Rohrdorf.
‘This is not only an investment in our future, but this also enables us to grow with our customers in this important business segment. A facility with our no-waste sustainability strategy is also operating the state-of-the-art energy-optimized technology.’
Markus Weidlich, managing director of Halle and Rohrdorf Coveris facilities, added: ‘The Rohrdorf facility is a brand-new building. Therefore, we use heat from waste and solar panels mounted on the roof of the building to produce electricity. With this modern facility, we created long-term production security in one of the most places in Germany.’
