Bramwell Label enters digital arena

The Bramwell Label Company is a producer of wet glue paper labels in the UK and has been printing labels in Trafford Park, Manchester for 20 years. The company produces over 80 million labels every month for food and drink manufacturers.

Despite this successful business model, an increasing demand for self-adhesive labels and plastic sleeves has meant that the company faced some challenges over the last few years.

As a result of this demand and after extensive market research, The Bramwell Label Company opted for HP Indigo WS6600, which was installed in November 2014, alongside an AB Graphic Digicon Series 2.

‘We were seeing a steady decline in the wet glue label market,’ said Peter Bramwell, sales manager at The Bramwell Label Company. ‘This was having a significant impact on our business, despite our efforts to remain competitive.

‘We determined that introducing digital printing services could give us the edge we needed and decided to explore the viability of adding digital to our offering. As soon as we started looking into the market we recognised the scope of opportunities and realised that it could help us win back the business we had lost in previous years.

‘We wanted a press which could handle everything from very low micron, unsupported film for our short-run, reel-fed bottling customers, to heavier self-adhesive papers for wine and spirit customers. HP Indigo was the only company which could provide this level of support and offer the high standard of print quality we required.

‘We have already seen the benefits of the HP Indigo WS6600. It’s a truly versatile solution that has opened up many new markets and revenue opportunities for our company.’
