Founded in 1968, East Riding Sacks, based near York in the UK, is the largest independent sack manufacturer in the UK with current production capacity of around 140 million sacks per annum. Initially focused on potato sack production, East Riding Sacks was a pioneer of double fold roll bottom sacks for packaging flour and similar products.

It also now serves the value sack market for cement, building products, chemicals and pigments.

The press has a 1,300mm web width and will be equipped with the smartSET impression and registration system, which provides automatic impression and registration setting of all print units on the press for rapid set-up and significant savings on waste and energy.

The Bobst F&K 20SIX CS, sold by Bobst Bielefeld with Bobst UK agent Edlon Machinery, will join a print department which includes design and reprographic control including platemaking and printing machines such an existing F&K FP-16S flexo press, processing large reels of high-quality sack kraft mainly sourced from Scandinavian mills.

Of the new press, East Riding Sacks managing director Rob Mabbett said: ‘This will allow us to consider profitable production of short run lengths.’
