Carlex Cia is a leader in label and packaging printing in the Central America region with more than 40 years’ of printing experience on a variety of substrates. It produces labels and packaging primarily for the food and beverage, consumer goods and industrial sectors.

The Mark Andy Performance Series P5 acquired by Carlex Cia is a 17in-wide (440mm-wide), 8-color UV flexo press, with options including chill rolls, a web turn bar, cold foil adhesive capabilities and a delam/relam unit making it suitable for flexible packaging printing.

Investing in a Mark Andy Performance Series P5 is intended to enable further growth in the Latin American flexible packaging market, which is projected to grow with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 12 percent between 2014 and 2019, according to an October 2014 Mordor Intelligence industry report.

John Cavey (pictured, right), sales manager for Latin America at Mark Andy, said: ‘Efficiency and productivity are top of mind for converters across the globe. Mark Andy is proud to partner with converters to implement more efficient production techniques and technology, resulting in more profitability.

‘We are encouraged by the expected growth in Latin America and are confident our robust product offering will continue to be well-received in this market.’
