Mexican converter invests in Bobst mid web CI flexo press technology
Publi Grafic Internacional has become the first customer for Bobst’s new range of mid web CI flexo presses, and which will be used to widen the converter's reach in the shrink sleeve market.

The Bobst MW range was launched at drupa 2016, having been introduced at Labelexpo Europe 2015. Bobst MW models, available for print widths of 850mm and 1250mm, have been developed to help flexible packaging manufacturers efficiently produce run lengths from ultra-short to long. At the same time, featuring a unique anti-vibration design including special cylinder bearings and upper and lower guides for the bearings, in conjunction with the largest anilox roll in their class, the MW presses deliver superior print quality at the highest line screens that are possible in flexo. Strong interested was generated on the Bobst stand by a MW 85F, as part of the company’s demonstration of its prowess in flexible packaging converting.
Based in Mexico City, and a privately-owned, 100 percent Mexican company, Publi Grafic Internacional has more than 30 years of experience in the graphic arts industry. As well as printing, the company offers pre-press and finishing, and produces flexible packaging, labels, shrink sleeves and promotional products. It largely serves the domestic market in Mexico.
Publi Grafic Internacional has opted to purchase a 900mm-wide MW model, equipped with automatic face-to-face winders and smartGPS, Bobst’s fully automatic impression and registration setting system. Delivery of the press is scheduled for October.
Fernando Mena, managing director of Publi Grafic Internacional, commented: ‘We are aware of the continuous evolution of the packaging market and the need of new packaging with improved performance. This is why we decided to acquire the Bobst printing press, which will enable us to widen our reach in the market of heat shrinkable sleeves.
‘We are confident that with the leading-edge technology provided by Bobst, we will continue on our path of growth as planned, making our mark in the Mexican market thanks to the way we satisfy the needs of our existing and future customers.’
