LOFO High Tech Film launches base films for medical products
German manufacturer LOFO High Tech Film has launched three ultra-destructible base films for safety labels for use within the medical products industry.
The EU Falsified Medicines Directive adopted in 2011 places stringent requirements on the tamper-proof seals of outer packaging for medical products. Seals manufactured from ultra-destructible cast film combine maximum protection against tampering with a high quality appearance and simple process integration, says the company.
Vipophan GS is a white, highly-opaque, UV-resistant cast film made from a special vinyl polymer. Reportedly offering excellent optical quality and dimensional stability, the film has a matt finish on one side and a glossy finish on the other, both of which are printable.
The white, highly-opaque cast film Tacphan GS is made from renewable raw materials and is characterized by its ‘outstanding heat resistance and opacity’, according to LOFO. As in the case of Vipophan GS, Tacphan GS also has two different, usable sides.
Made from a hydrocarbon copolymer, Clearphan GS cast film is colorless and highly transparent; it can therefore be used without obscuring any information on the medical product packaging.
The elongation at break of all three LOFO products is optimally set to guarantee both a high level of protection against tampering and smooth processing of the rolled goods throughout the packaging process.
All the cast films are odorless and feature excellent printability. As such, the tamper-proof authenticity feature stipulated by the EU Falsified Medicines Directive can be applied directly onto the tamper-evident closure where required, effectively allowing both the product and brand protection requirements for medical products to be concurrently fulfilled.
