Axel Thien to lead KBA-MePrint

Axel Thien to lead KBA-MePrint
Axel Thien is to replace Holger Volpert as the chief executive officer (CEO) of KBA-MePrint, joining from Presstek in a move to build on his professional experiences.

Holpert is leaving after seven years on the management board of KBA-Metronic and its successor company KBA-MePrint to pursue new professional challenges.

Volpert worked at Metronic, which was taken over by Koenig & Bauer (KBA) in 2004, and at its successor companies KBA-Metronic and KBA-MePrint, for nearly 27 years. In February 2009, Holpert became sole managing director of the KBA subsidiary specializing in waterless UV systems for printing on film, data storage devices and flexible packaging.

KBA-Metronic, which produces digital and analog coding and marking systems, has been a subsidiary of KBA-MePrint since 2010, and continues to be headed by Oliver Volland and German Stuis.

Thien, KBA-MePrint’s new CEO, joins KBA from Presstek, where he was appointed to the position of EMEA president in March 2012.

He also worked with Heidelberg in the US and Germany from 1998 to 2009.
