Xsys to convert flexo plate portfolio to nyloflex eco series

The new nyloflex eco ACT and nyloflex eco FAC leverage unique plate formulation made with renewable raw materials.

Following the successful launch of its nyloflex eco series, Xsys has confirmed it will continue converting its traditional flexo printing plates into more sustainable versions.

As promised at the launch, the company is rapidly expanding the nyloflex eco series, replacing existing traditional nyloflex plates with new, more sustainable versions, where possible.

By unveiling two analog nyloflex eco plates as the next step, the company is demonstrating its determination to bring more sustainable alternatives to the market while upholding print quality and performance.

‘At Xsys, we are committed to lifting proven quality to a sustainable future, which is why we are swiftly expanding the nyloflex eco series while retiring our legacy plates as far as possible,’ says Florian Hoelzle, product manager for nyloflex and nylosolv at Xsys. ‘Offering analog eco versions of nyloflex ACT and nyloflex FAC is a natural progression, allowing us to support even more customers in their sustainability efforts.’

Designed as a versatile plate for paper and board applications, the nyloflex eco ACT is suitable for water-based inks, making it ideal for absorbent substrates.

In terms of composition, the plates’ polymer layers contain between 19 and 29 percent renewable raw materials to improve the footprint of the plates across their life cycle, as evident by life cycle assessments performed by Xsys.

They also enable a reduction of the processing time by up to 20 percent, helping to minimize energy use and solvent consumption in the platemaking process. Notably, nyloflex eco plates can replace legacy nyloflex plates without time-consuming press trials. All plate characteristics remain the same, meaning no waste will be created in the simple changeover to sustainable flexo printing.

“With the nyloflex eco plate series, introduced at drupa last year, we are making major strides in our journey towards sustainability. We will continue to develop more products that support the sustainability journeys of our customers by lowering environmental impacts while maintaining, or even improving, the print quality, allowing our customers to Be Brilliant. More nyloflex eco flexo plates will be introduced in the near future,’ concluded Hoelzle.
