Simpson Label Company provides new look for Glenmorangie

Glenmorangie has recently undergone major repositioning, presenting a contemporary and stylish new image to assist in further enhancing the brand’s status across the world.  This has involved the vast and complex job of repackaging and labeling the range with over 200 variant labels involved. Individual print runs have ranged from volumes of 250 up to 200,000 per variant.

To meet the criteria of this major redesign project, The Glenmorangie Company chose Edinburgh-based Simpson Label Company to advise on production planning and the appropriate manufacturing techniques. Simpson was able to offer longer runs on traditional UV flexo and shorter on the company’s two Xeikon digital machines. In addition, Simpson Label’s production facility is only a matter of twenty minutes from The Glenmorangie Company’s headquarters in Broxburn, west of Edinburgh which also includes a custom-built new bottling line.

‘With a wide range of colors plus foil embossing for Glenmorangie’s new sculpted bottles across all the brand’s whiskies, the self adhesive labeling for three new extra matured expressions, as well as the flagship 10-year old and the 18 and 25-year olds, was the most complex labeling and packaging operation that both Glenmorangie and Simpson Label had ever undertaken,’ said Maureen Calder of Simpson Label Company.

The change was accomplished within the six months timescale set by the project team to meet the worldwide launch in the autumn. The new Glenmorangie brand packaging, produced on a new production line, required luxury finishing and was a technically challenging project.

In essence, the company has replaced the wood finish range with the Extra Matured Range – The Lasanta, The Quinta Ruban & The Nectar D’Or which have been matured for an extra period in specially selected casks that previously held Sherry, Port & Sauternes wine. The new bottle, label and packaging design style was also extended to include Glenmorangie Original (10 Years Old), Glenmorangie 18 Years Old and Glenmorangie Quarter Century.
