Avery Dennison announced the opening of its new RFID and digital ID technologies facility in Querétaro, Mexico.

The site will be equipped with smart systems and data-driven processes, providing a blend of technology and human expertise to deliver products and services that keep pace with the rapidly changing market landscape. The Querétaro plant will be Avery Dennison's largest RFID site globally, serving local growth opportunities while increasing its global scale and capacity. The plant will manufacture RFID technologies to drive adoption of digital identification tools across industries including apparel, food, healthcare, logistics and general retail.

The facility represents a total investment of over $100 million.

'The state of Querétaro and the municipality of Querétaro have a distinct focus on sustainable development, while benefiting from a privileged geographic location and skilled workforce. These provisions further assure our clients of the leading service they have come to expect from Avery Dennison, as they strive towards realizing their respective innovation ambitions,' said Francisco Melo, president, Solutions Group at Avery Dennison. 'We continue to see growing demand for our RFID and digital ID solutions across the Americas region. This is driven, in part, by the need for greater supply chain visibility, along with an increased understanding of how the technology can add further value in areas such as inventory management and loss prevention. The new facility is testament to our Making Possible commitment, as we continue to expand on our capabilities to help solve industry challenges and create value for businesses, people and the planet.'

The approximately 25,000 square meters plant is located in Querétaro's new FINSA III industrial park and will soon obtain the LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a globally recognized rating system that demonstrates a building's commitment to sustainability.
