Sonoco Asia launches EnviroCan

Sonoco is one of the global leaders in paper container innovation with an increased focus on sustainability. Sonoco Asia operates four paper container production operations in Malaysia, China, and South Africa with distribution throughout the region. 

‘The design of Sonoco’s EnvroCan allows it to meet a brand’s ongoing challenge of balancing responsible materials sourcing with product and food safety. The snacks category continues to grow rapidly across the region despite the pandemic,’ commented Ernest Yong, division vice president, and general manager of Sonoco Asia/Africa. 

‘Sonoco’s launch today is our first paper container with a paper bottom in the region and provides more options to our customers in terms of choice of substrates. Sonoco’s EnviroCan contains 90 percent paper fiber and uses less plastic than conventional paper containers. Sonoco will continue to innovate in this space to better respond to customers’ and consumers’ increasing preference for more sustainable packaging solutions,’ concluded Yong.
