Xeikon shows its 3500 high-end digital press in Sweden

Xeikon exhibited its flagship Xeikon 3500 digital pressat Print 2011 in Stockholm recently.  Designed to print labels and folding cartons, Xeikon describes the 3500 as the most productive digital press in its class, with inline finishing on a range of store and display packaging and promotional products.
 
Visitors to the expo heard how Länsförsäkringarand ICA, brand owners in the Banking and Retail markets respectively, were able to grow in difficult times by using creative, groundbreaking communication with their customers using digital printing for dedicated applications.  Bring Dialogue and Parajett, both with several Xeikon digital presses, supplied the print service.  According to Länsförsäkringarand ICA, they were able to continue to develop their personal offers and value statement in large volumes without compromising on print quality.
 
The launch of the Xeikon 3500 in May 2010 addressed the need for more capacity by offering a wider print width up to 516 mm, making it viable beyond 4,000 linear meters.  This closes the gap with traditional printing presses and has allowed Xeikon to fill a productivity gap.  The press is also opening new applications in diverse market segments.
 
Capable of handling web widths from 250 mm up to 516 mm and printing at a speed of 19.2 m/min, regardless of the amount of colors used or the size of image, the Xeikon 3500 is a productive machine.  Equipped with the high-precision LED-based imaging head, the press features the unique combination of 1200 dpi resolution and 4 bit variable dot density.  The result is an image quality with vibrant colors, sharp details and subtle contrast for high-impact labels.  
 
Like all Xeikon 3000 Series presses, the Xeikon 3500 is capable of printing on an unmatched range of substrates including self-adhesive films, unsupported film, paper, transparent and opaque foils, and paperboard with weights ranging from 40 to 350 gsm.  Significantly, the Xeikon 3500 utilizes Xeikon’s QA-I toner, which meets all the applicable FDA guidelines for indirect food contact under room temperature as well as direct food contact for dry food substances containing no surface oil or fat.
