Alusa consolidates South America position with Empaques acquisition

Chilean flexible packaging firm Alusa has acquired its Columbia counterpart Empaques Flexa in a move to consolidate its position in the South American market.
Alusa is the flexible packaging subsidiary of Madeco with operations in Chile, Peru and Argentina. Empaques Flexa was formerly a part of the Carvajal group, but has now been acquired to expand Alusa’s footprint into Columbia. The takeover was carried out in partnership with Nexus Capital Partners III, a Peruvian investment fund which is also a partner of Alusa in its Peruvian operation.

The final purchase price has yet to be confirmed. The deal includes the signing of as long-term lease agreement on the Empaques Flexa facility
‘This acquisition falls within its strategy to consolidate its position as a relevant player in the region, now with a production presence in Columbia, in addition to Chile, Peru and Argentina,’ said Alusa’s parent company Madeco in a statement.
