Mark Andy is moving forward with the introduction of its new mid web flexible packaging press to the market, with customers around the world ready to install the first Versa Max units.

Versa Max web path

The Versa Max brings together Comco's historical film printing technology and the recent innovations found in Mark Andy Performance Series presses, renewing the foundation for printing thin films and many other specialty substrates.

Versa Max has a printing width of 26in, with a repeat range of 10-32in. The press speed can reach 1,200ft per minute.

Lamination is available, as is a web-reversing option for double sided printing. Hot air impingement drying is available for water- or solvent-based inks and coatings, as is EB or UV curing, or a combination of them all.

Other design features of the Versa Max include a unique inking component integrated with an operator-friendly pull-out drawer design, simple ink chamber removal and installation, and intelligent registration and impression control.

The Versa Max can print on substrates ranging from mono-layer materials to multi-layer structures for flexible packaging. As such, applications range from shrink-sleeve labels and bottle wraps, to pouches, sachets, tickets, cartons and lids.

The installation of the first machine is taking place in Mexico, with a printer close to Mexico City acting as the beta test site for the Mark Andy Versa Max. A further two units have been sold, one in the US and one to a customer in Asia.

Mark Andy will feature the Versa Max as part of its presence at forthcoming print industry tradeshows, including the CPP EXPO area of PRINT 13 in Chicago and Labelexpo Europe 2013, both taking place in September.
